A good night by QB Clayton Hensley, receiver Adam Bailey and RB AJ Hummel was not enough to put the Knights in the win column on the eve of the Farmers’ Fair parade. After falling behind early, 9-0, SD battled back with a 27-yard TD pass from Hensley to Bailey on the first play of the second quarter, making it 9-7 after Tanner Anderson’s PAT. The Tigers went back to a 9-point lead until Josh Faller took a Hensley pass down to the 1 and punched it in on the very next play, 16-14. After halftime, the back and forth continued with Lawrenceburg scoring early in the second half, only to be answered quickly by SD’s 75 yard strike from Hensley to Bailey. Success of the passing game all night could be attributed in part by the hard-earned yards by Hummel. For the third time in the game, Anderson was good on the point after and SD trailed by only 2, 23-21. After that, the momentum switched back to the black and orange as they scored 27 unanswered to give the Tigers a 50-21 victory. The Knights now stand at 0-8 with the regular season finale set for October 12 vs. Muncie South. Game time is 7:30 at SD and it is also senior night.
