Multiple Teams · Lady Knights Hope Off-Season Work Pays Dividends

As the 2012-2013 season gets underway, the Lady Knights seems to be right in the swing of things. Despite graduating four key seniors from last years squad, the Lady Knights are going into the season with high expectations from many players. Returning seniors this year are Morgan Bressert and Kourtney Stevens, with the addition to the team of Brittany Schimmel and Shelby Kurtz. Kurtz was hurt late in the season last year putting a halt to her basketball season. The junior class is the powerhouse for the Lady Knights this year, bringing back Ellen Barrett, Morgan Wolfer, Kooper Vertz, and Emily Townsend. The junior-varsity squad for the Lady Knights this year will rely on their top returning players and the addition of many new freshmen.

After a record of 11-10 overall and a conference record of 5-5 in last year’s season, the team sees room for improvement. The varsity squad attended numerous summer camps and played over 40 games over the summer with the hope of improving their game.

The Lady Knights also hope to repeat their Rivertown Classic championship from 2012.  “I would definitely say that my teammates and I are focused on having a winning record and once again winning the Rivertown Classic on our home court,” said Vertz.

The Lady Knights travel to Lawrenceburg this Saturday for EIAC action. The JV game is set to tip off at noon, followed by the varsity competition.
