The Lady Knights opened Rivertown Classic play Wednesday night against the Switzerland County Lady Pacers. The Lady Knights jumped out to an early 11-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Within that quarter Ellen Barrett had already added 6 points to the scoreboard, and Emily Townsend 4 points. By the half, the Lady Knights had built the lead to 22-14 by playing outstanding defense and penetrating the ball well on offense, giving their inside post players the chance to put up big numbers on the scoreboard.
Coming out after halftime, a strong third quarter by the Lady Knights pushed the lead to 33-18 going into the final quarter. The Lady Knights’ defense had kept Switzerland County’s leading scorer to only 4 points by the end of the third quarter. The Lady Knights now go on to play the Rising Sun Lady Shiners on Saturday night at 6 p.m.
