On an exceptionally hot and humid October Saturday, the SD Cross Country Team hosted the IHSAA Sectional at their home course in Moores Hill.
The Lady Knights avenged a 24-point defeat at the hands of Jac-Cen-Del earlier in the season and covered a close gap with a competitive Milan team to secure the fifth and final Regional Qualifying spot. SD out-distanced Milan by 14 an Jac-Cen-Del by 25. Rachel Rohe earned All-Sectional honors with 15th place. Brooke Rohe ran past many competitors who had defeated her earlier in the year to garner 24th place. Emily Rector, who ran the 16th fastest all-time at SD last weekend, was 27th; Ella Bashor was right behind Rector with a season-best in 28th position; and Senior Katelyn Brown placed 46th.
The Men of SD ran courageously to a surprise 6th place—one spot away from a Regional berth. The Knights were led by the Junior duo of Deryk Tibbs and Brandon Frazier in 28th and 29th, respectively. Freshman Brayson Craig was 34th; Micah Evans 44th; and Senior Brandon Ross was 49th.
The SD girls team along with Tibbs, Frazier, and Craig will represent South Dearborn at the Shelbyville Regional this Saturday at 10:30 at Blue River Memorial Park.
