Last night at the Franklin County Girls Track and Field Sectional, the Lady Knights placed 5th out of 13 teams.
South Dearborn Junior Grace Quinlan was Sectional Champion in both hurdle races and runner-up in the High Jump. She broke the school record in the 100 hurdles, held by Maggie Smith (16.04 in 2006). Quinlan first took down the record in the prelims with a 15.85. She then improved on that performance in the finals with an impressive 15.58. In the 300 hurdles, Quinlan remained undefeated in the 2019 season with 46.36. She will represent SD as the third overall seed in the 300 hurdles at the Shelbyville Regional next Tuesday, May 21.
Also scoring were Elsa Meek (Shot Put and Discus), Amanda Mathews (Long Jump and 4×100), Erin Huber (100 and 4×100), Jorgia Quinlan (Long Jump and Pole Vault), Brenna Van Guelpen (4×100), Veronica Wickersham (4×100), Grayce Collins (4×400), and Zoe Ross (4×400).
The Girls team final season record is 65 and 19.
