The Knights and Panthers of Jennings County have enjoyed many terrific battles on the mat through the years. Tonight, the Knights got to help open the Jennings County Wrestling Gym (not room…gym) for their inaugural dual in the facility. Jennings County was able to put out their first full lineup of the year while the Knights were short three varsity wrestlers tonight with no backups at those spots along with 106, giving up 24 points in forfeits.
It proved to be another exciting dual between these two programs with South Dearborn battling back and finding big moves in a few crucial matches to cut the lead to five with one match remaining. Cooper Barker stepped up through injury to capture the fall and secure a victory for the Knights, 40-39. Other varsity winners for the Knights were Dylan McGill, Alex Kemper, Isaiah Otto, Colton Lane, Eli Otto, and Blake Bartley. Jorge Lasa Cabo and Andrew Kemper picked up victories in junior varsity action as well.
Congratulations to the Jennings County program on their new facility after having to wrestle in the gym mezzanine (often splitting up large teams) for nearly 50 years. They have long run a great program.
