The SD Knights celebrated senior night in grand fashion with an extra inning win over #2 ranked (1A) Rising Sun 6-5. Kane Curry, Adam Rose, Kasey McCabe, Brady Fentress, Derek Williams, Nate Klayer, Tyler Morehead and Ethan Reinholt were all honored before the game that also featured an hour-plus lightning delay. Rising Sun seemed poised for a win with a 2 run lead until Ethan Getz doubled home Tobie Teke with the Knights’ first run in the 5th. In the 7th, Teke smacked a triple to straightaway center and scored on Getz’s RBI fielder’s choice, sending the game into extras. After a scoreless 8th, the Shiners struck for 3 runs in the top of the 9th, but this one was far from over. Teke once again reached base, this time with a walk. Getz then got his second hit of the night, a single to left, on which Teke went to third and eventually scored on a throwing error. Getz was then knocked in by a Fentress RBI single to make it 5-4. After a sac bunt, hit by pitch and walk, the Knights sent Adam Dixon to the plate with the bases loaded. Dixon earned an RBI walk to tie the score. Then Curry came up and produced an RBI groundout to second, sending the SD faithful home happy. Andy Dixon got the last out of the 9th inning to qualify for the win.
