The Lady Knights made the trip to Hanover last night to take on the Southwestern Lady Rebels in a JV/Varsity set.
Coming into last nights game, the Rebels were 8-4 on the season.
The Lady Knights got out to a slow start, trailing 16-9 at the end of the 1st quarter.
In the 2nd quarter, SD matched Southwestern in points (both teams scoring 14).
The score at the half was 30-23 Southwestern.
It was a low scoring 3rd quarter with the Lady Rebels getting 10 and Lady Knights getting 8. After 3 quarters, South Dearborn trailed 40-31.
The Lady Knights continued to fight hard. They held Southwestern scoreless for the 1st 3 1/2 minutes of the 4th quarter. They actually won the quarter by score of 18-15 due to some aggressive defense and baskets.
The 4th quarter charge wasn’t enough to overcome their low free throw percentage. The Lady Knights hit just 5 of 16 free throws in the game. They lost to Southwestern by a score of 55-49.
The Varsity team was led in scoring by Bernadette Wismann with 14. Kiersten Dixon finished with 13 points. This was the Lady Knights second game in a row having multiple players in double figures. The remainder of the scoring for the Knights was as follows:
Jillian Bond 6, Quinn Heizer 4, Breonna Burton 4, Kyra Labazzo 2, Zoe Ross 2, Megan Howell 2 and Rylee Thies 2. All the girls got in the scoring column on this night.
In the JV game, the Lady Knights were victorious by a score of 30-18. The girls were able to overcome a slow start and first half foul trouble. They played great defensively forcing the Rebels to commit lots of turnovers.
The JV team was led in scoring by Natalie Rupp with 13. Natalie Cantrell added 6, Rylee Thies 4, Kaylee Thies 2, Becky Hughes 1and Breonna Burton and Kiersten Dixon each added 2 points in 1 quarter of action.
The Lady Knights are back in action on Thursday night as they host Oldenburg.
It is Senior Night and we will be honoring Megan Howell prior to the start of the varsity contest.
