The Knights prevailed on Senior Night with a 4-1 victory over the visiting Lawrenceburg Tigers.. South Dearborn revenged a loss to the tigers from a week ago. From great hustle to the shot selection to perseverance, the South Dearborn showcased their talents at the Knights Tennis Complex, in front of family and friends. Number one singles player Madison Fentress defeated Averi McMullen 62, 6-3. Sydney Yoe defeated Katy Wyly 6-1, 6-0 at number two singles. Number three singles player Ashley Stevenson won 64, 6-4 against Gracie Safaviyan. In doubles action, number one duo of Brooklyn Cromer and Emily Seward battled Olivia Lamb and Sheridan Houze. The SD duo won the first set 6-1, then fell behind 2-5 in the second before rallying back and taking the set 7-5. Number two doubles team of Lacey Horn and Danielle Martini were defeated 1-6, 2-6 by Jasmyn Blackburn and Calli Pope.
In junior varsity play, singles action; Hailey Brandt, Jennifer Wullenweber, Reagan Stevenson, and Sarah Rutheford all fell to their opponent. In doubles action, the duo of Brooklyn Halbig and Kelsie Jackson won their match 6-2, Jersey Tice and Tylee Baker fell to their opponent in a tiebreaker. Duo’s of Madalynn Couch and Alexis Qualters, Sydney Brandt and Marissa Geiser, Chloe Steigerwald and Jess Suesz, Annie Brown and Anjul Cash, and Abby Baxter and Zowee Ott.
The win took the Knights record to 4 and 13. South Dearborn will be back in action Thursday (10) at 5pm and Saturday (12) at 9am for the EIAC Tournament at Greensburg, before taking on Milan on Monday (14) for the season finale.
