South Dearborn finished off the regular season at the Knights Tennis Complex with a 4-1 victory over the visiting Indians of Milan. The Knights played a great match at every position; they hit the ball well and used great ball placement to gain control and momentum of the match. Madison Fentress defeated Megan Berger 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles. Number two singles player Sydney Yoe beat Maitri Patel 6-1, 6-0. Ashley Stevenson defeated Jessica Starkey 6-0, 6-0. In doubles play; number one team of Brooklyn Cromer and Emily Seward beat Abigail Riehle and Tori Haessig in the first set 6-4, then lost momentum in the second as they lost 2-6. The third set was a super-tiebreaker to 10. The Indians took control early before the Knights battled back and won 11-9. Number two duo of Lacey Horn and Danielle Martini lost a hard fought battle to Tulsi Patel and Delaney Bushhorn 4-6, 5-7.
In junior varsity play, singles action: Hailey Brandt, Kelsie Jackson, Jennifer Wullenweber, Alexis Qualters, Anjul Cash and Chloe Steigerwald all won their matches, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 respectfully. Brooklyn Halbig, Reagan Stevenson, Sydney Brandt, and Annie Brown fell to their opponent. In doubles play; duo of Jersey Tice and Tylee Baker won 6-3. Teams of Jess Suesz and Marissa Geiser and Abby Baxter and Zowee Ott lost to their opponent.
The Knights finished the regular season with a record of 5-13.
South Dearborn will next be in action Wednesday (16) has they host Oldenburg in the first round of Sectional at the Knights Tennis Complex, with the winner getting Milan on Thursday. Also playing on Wednesday will be Batesville vs Lawrenceburg with the winner playing East Central on Thursday.
