South Dearborn welcomed EIAC foe East Central to the Knights tennis center on a warm yet windy day. East Central left with a 4-1 victory of the Knights. South Dearborn’s number one singles player Madison Fentress, had a well rounded game, picked up the lone point for the Knights with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Maddie Davidson. The Knights’ Sydney Yoe started out strong with a 6-1 victory in the first set. The second set had momentum swings by both players. A hard fought second set saw East Central’s Carly Kane come away with a 9-7 win in a tiebreaker. The third and decisive set saw East Central take control of the momentum and won 6-2. In the third singles match up saw Ashley Stevenson’s hard fought match in with a 3-6, 4-6 loss. In doubles action, number one duo of Brooklyn Cromer and Emily Seward lost 2-6, 0-6 to Kelly Buescher and Jaylen Hilbert. Number two doubles team of Lacey Horn and Danielle Martini were defeated by Brooke Stonefield and Grace Kraus by the score of 6-0, 6-4.
In junior varsity action, number five singles player Reagan Stevenson won 6-4. The remaining junior varsity players (singles/double), were on the wrong side of the score.
The loss dropped the Knights to an overall/EIAC record of 0-3. The Knights look to rebound on Friday the 13th, as they travel to Greensburg, for another EIAC matchup, starting at 5:30.
